So what will happen to you when you start keto?
Can you stick it out?
Will you get "the Keto Flu"?
What will your first week or two be like?
You will be hungry.
You will probably be an asshole to nice people who don't deserve it.
You will want to give up. (Don't Do That!)
Your bum will say hello to your toilet much more often than normal or less than normal depending on your insides.
You MAY feel like you have the flu.
OR
You will feel great and be excited that you have lost your first ten pounds in such little time.
You will have a crap ton of energy you never had before.
Most likely, multiple things will happen. But why?
SCIENCE!
You are changing how your body has run for the past however many years you are old (or young).
No longer is your body using sugar. It is trying REALLLLLLLLL hard to suck every last drop of glycogen from every part of your body.
What the hell is GLYCOGEN?!
Glycogen is a multibranched polysaccharide (sugar) of glucose that serves as a form of energy storage in humans, animals, and fungi. The polysaccharide structure represents the main storage form of glucose (Sugar) in the body.
Boy do these things hold water! Your first 8-10lbs will be water weight. Sorry to burst your keto bubble.
Why will you be hungry?
You will want to eat, A LOT. and that is fine. Your first couple weeks should be about adjusting to something new and not wanting to die or shove a pizza in your face.
You will think to yourself "This can't be right. I ate 4 pounds of bacon, 24 eggs, more sausage than I can count, and cheese on all of it. How the HELL am I still losing weight?!"
I still think this everyday. Not that I still eat that much, but I am still amazed by keto.

The Keto Flu and How to Avoid it.
Lets face it. Your metabolism is going to be all sorts of angry at you.
Imagine you are a car, you run on gasoline. You run for gas for years. Then all of a sudden some asshole changes your engine to burn water. You will put up a fight. but then! Then you will will realize this works so much better!
You are changing how your body is used to running. It takes some time for it to adjust. But if you take care of yourself along the way, it might not even phase you.
You WILL need to consume electrolytes. Not Gatorade. NaCl, Potassium, Magnesium.
Salt your food. Often. If not every time you eat. I use this stuff.

I take 4 Vitamins a day to supplement my electrolyte intake.
Multivitamin- General thing I do
Magnesium Pill- THIS keeps away leg cramps
Biotin Pill- helps my hair. My wife finds that she sheds LOTS of hair. We started taking this and it seems to help a bit.
Vitamin C- I don't get to eat much fruit on keto. This helps with the vitamin C from my veggies
You will be PEEING way more than usual as you start this change in life.
When you pee you lose electrolytes.
you MUST replenish them.
Nighttime leg cramps suck. They happen due to lack of electrolytes.
People find if you keep up with your electrolytes, the keto flu will probably not be a problem for you. My wife almost quit a few times because she didn't realize how MUCH she needed to take in when it came to salts.
DRINK WATER!
You MUST DRINK WATER!
At first this will be tough, especially if you are not use to drinking lots of water.
I try to drink at LEAST 4 32oz bottles a day.
This keeps your kidneys happy and it flushes excess ketones out of your system.
You will need to use the bathroom. A LOT. But over time your body realizes, "Oh. I should be used to this now, I think I'm good".
Poops
People don't like to talk about poop. Well. I DO <3
Two things can happen when you start keto.
You crap A LOT. And I don't mean happy logs. I mean fire hose diarrhea.
You Don't poop at all!
If you are pooping a lot, make sure to drink EXTRA water. You are losing it in your stool. Remember you are eating more fats than you are use to. Your body takes time to be able to process these correctly.
It will smell.
It will make you embarrassed.
It will lift you off your seat.
It will want to happen at the least convenient time of your life.
If you are not pooping. You need fiber in your life.
Eat veggies (this is where you 20g of carbs should be coming from anyway)
Have another cup of BPC.
A General First Week
The first day is awesome: You can eat all the bacon and butter you want.
Day two: still awesome, though cravings may kick in. (don't give in!)
Day three: you are angry. You want all the tader tots.
Day four: you want to give up. (Don't do that!)
Day five: If your electrolyte balance is good, you should be feeling pretty awesome.
Day six: You have stupid amounts of energy and your pants fit better?!
Day seven: Keep it up. your life is about to change for the better.

Oh. and NEVER trust a keto fart.
