What is the Ketogenic Diet?

The ketogenic diet is a High fat, moderate protein, low carbohydrate lifestyle that changes the fuel source your body burns for energy.

In high school biology you learned about macro-nutrients.

Fats: Store energy
Carbohydrates: the body's preferred source of fuel
Protein: The building blocks of the body

With the ketogenic diet we are switching the way our body works, turning it from a sugar burning factory, into a fat burning factory.

By consuming less than 20 grams of carbohydrates a day, your body will enter the ketogenic state. This metabolic state uses your stored fat as an energy source instead of ingested sugars.
